MY GOAL TO Start Playing Golf AGAiN

Physical therapist working with a patient,

Physical Therapy Is Essential

Determination & Motivation To Get Better

Took a lot of work, research time and determination to make it happen.

  • Going from not being able to walk without pain in February dependent on walkers and wheelchairs.

  • To be able to play golf again five months later to play in a tournament in June.

Process To Make This Happen

  • I worked hard with physical therapy doctors and chiropractors 3 days a week 2 hours a day for 3 months.

  • We all became a team to make my goal come true.

  • I worked closely with my doctors to learn how I could replicate the type of exercises at home . Since, I was unable to do workouts on the floor and only on the therapy tables or equipment in the facility.

Together with my doctors we decided what I would need in my home office therapy workout area .

All the products I have reviewed as part of this process for therapy resources. We’re part of my journey to get back on the course.

Physical Therapy On & Off The Course

Building Strength & Endurance

After living in Henderson, Nevada during the winter months. I returned to Hastings, Minnesota in May and began working with physical therapy doctors .

  • To help build my balance , strength  in my upper body, and quads and core muscles.

  • To be able to start re-educating my body “muscle memory” of my previous golf swing.

  • So I , could start modifying my golf posture and mechanics to use a single plane swing. While wearing a back brace , knee brace and arthritic resources for maintaining my grip before and after ball impact .

Therapy sessions with this objective, involved two days a week and sessions continued throughout the golf season ending in October 2023.

Results

My endurance and strength got better and my doctors noticed a big difference as the golf season continued.

As part of my exercise to strengthen my body, work on approving balance and endurance .

Golfing , became part of my therapy,.

Although my routine riding a cart and handicap flag following  guidelines. To be able to get closer to tee, hazards and greens .

I was tracking my steps and averaged 3 miles “walking “ per 18 hole round .

Results On The Course

  • Golf Posture and Swing Plane Improvement .

  • Golf swing modification was working and my body was adjusting.

  • Drive distance was increasing as well as fairway shots and accuracy for the short game.

Researching Golf Aids To Help Play Golf

Simultaneously in May 2023,  I began researching golfing aid resources to help eliminate any bending since I was unable to bend due to my health issue .

I started researching my health issue and discovered how I could learn how to play golf again with therapy solutions and products to wear and use on the golf course to help me manage back, knee and arthritis impacts, I needed to conquer to play golf again.

I ordered products available on Amazon , continued researching looking at what Adaptive Golf Organizations websites and blogs were discussing as well as other small companies on Facebook or eBay.

Many  just didn’t work at all in a real situation on the golf course.

During my analysis, I did discover a couple companies products that had potential .

So I reached out to these companies and provided a true evaluation of their products.

As part of this process, I provided recommendations for improvement and enhancement of their products to meet the needs of the "adaptive golfer community“.

My experience, not only an avid golfer but also a professional health and fitness specialist .

Based on my recommendations and testing for 5 months products.

How these 2 separate Golf Aids Help Me Play Golf Again Over 50 Rounds Between June-September 2023-

ALL THE Hard Work: THERAPY & RESEARCHING WAS WORTH IT!

I MADE IT AND PLAYED GOLF AGAIN

On June 13th, 2023 in Mankato, Minnesota.

I achieved my goal in playing in the tournament with my senior golfers team mates, to represent Hastings Golf Club.

That I was determined to be there on February 21st, 2023 when I first entered a medical facility to help me walk again.

Because of physical therapy , modifying my golf posture, swing plane and not bending on the course using the golf aid I was involved in developing .

I was able to play golf again 4 days a week and once again enjoying the game in what ever capacity I can. As a proud member of the Adaptive Golf Community.

Another Golf Career Has Begun

THE BEST DAY EVER

Never thinking back in February. I would ever have a chance to play with my twin grandson‘s 6 years old just learning the game .

On July 3rd, 2023 they played their first time at Hastings Golf Club with Grandpa and Grandma.

Watching their excitement of playing the holes rather than just hitting balls at the driving range.

It brought back memories of how their mom and uncle years ago a little younger than them.

Began their golfing career as well. 🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♀️

GOLFING IS LIFE TIME SPORT FOR A REASON

picture of golfers

Any one at any age can learn the game and enjoy making fore-ever friends along the way.

Because of my rapid health changes and age impacts with my swing speed and club distance  just like many other senior golfers may be experiencing. My handicap has progressively gone up the past 10 years.

This golf season especially, I learned you can’t dwell on the past but need to accept what is ahead and understand.

The benefits of socialization that golfing provides is the real winner not the scorecard .

Why Helping Hands Golf Resources ?

My countless hours of research led me to the realization that there had to be a more efficient way for people to find the help they need using the Internet.

Being well-versed in technology, I was determined to create a website as a valuable resource for assistance, hence the name Helping Hands Golf Resources.

Although already retired for ten years I needed too, so others could get back to playing golf as well.

Whether you're a golfer facing health issues or injuries that limit your mobility, temporarily or permanent.

I understand the frustration of being unable to enjoy the game you love.

It's not just about being outdoors or getting exercise; it's about the camaraderie and connection with friends and family.

That's why, I built this website as a free resource to help golfers to get back to the game they love .

  • The research I conducted in the summer of 2023 was successful and I believe the insights shared on the HHGR website will benefit other golfers as well.

  •  I welcome any feedback or suggestions for improving and expanding our approach, especially in areas that affect different levels of "adaptive golfers."

  • Let's work together to make a significant difference in someone's life, allowing them to continue or start playing golf again and enjoy the lifelong benefits this sport offers.

Welcome to Helping Hands Golf Resources. .
